What Happens on Kessik

Posted on Thu Jun 11th, 2020 @ 3:15pm by Captain Abigail Laurens & Linza (Lin) Esni

Mission: Into The Delta Triangle
Location: Kessik III

Tameka had spent the morning wandering through the marketplace under the pretense of shopping, but really she had been observing, watching to see who was about and where. There had been whispers that someone was attempting to nose their way into the market on Kessik III and Meka knew that Lin wouldn't stand for it.

If there was a new party trying to make their presence known it could make things interesting. Lin was incredibly territorial and didn't like to share, that much had been made abundantly clear already, and honestly, she was just scary enough that Meka wasn't in a hurry to cross her, hence the expedition into the market.

Now, walking back into the building, she pulled an apple from her pocket and tossed it nonchalantly toward Lin and grinned easily. "Breakfast is served," she quipped lightly.

Grabbing the apple that was tossed her way, Lin glanced over to Tameka. "Another apple? Come on, can't come up with something different?" She took a bite anyways and leaned against a wall. "Do I even want to know what is on your mind, Meka? That's what, three days in a row you've brought me an apple?"

"Remember that Klingon that came for you the other day? The one that was trying to hawk the romulan disruptors?" Meka dropped down into a seat and leaned back, one arm flopping down next to the seat. "He was in the market again, has been every day. Always in the same place."

Lin scoffed, "Again? Doesn't he get that he can't hawk that stuff here? I mean..." She took a bite of the apple. "Everyone knows not to deal with that stuff. I mean, do I like having those kinda weapons? Sure. But that set will lead right back here if anyone buys it."

"I don't know," Meka said with a shake of her head. "Something about it just doesn't sit right. I think he's up to something. Do you really think he's still trying to get rid of those disruptors here? Surely he's not dumb enough to try and go up against you?"

"He tries? He'll regret it. Has anyone even seen the ship he came in on? I mean.." Linza took another bite, "I don't question where people get things, as long as they don't question where I get mine. But he's pushing his luck." She glanced out one of the windows she had, "Where is he at this time?"

"Market," Meka took a bite of her own apple, crunching on it as she contemplated. "I assume he's got a ship in orbit somewhere, there hasn't been a lot of shuttle activity around here lately, at least, not new shuttles anyway." She shrugged slightly and took another bite of her apple, watching Lin as she chewed.

Lin rolled her eyes, "Of course he is. I've tried to not run an orbital scan, but with him still hanging around..." She wandered to one of the consoles from her shuttle and kicked on the sensors. "Let's see...those ones I knew about..." She groaned, "Oh lovely."

Problem?" Meka asked, raising an eyebrow as she finished her apple, tossing the core into a bin a few feet away from her.

Switching the image to the main viewer that Meka could see, Lin pointed to the unmarked ship. "Hiding in lower orbit, looks like a malfunctioning cloak. Probably why I didn't see it earlier."

"Shame Marquez isn't here, what do you think we'd get for a cloak like that? Even malfunctioning?" Meka mused as she kicked her feet up on the table in front of her.

"That thing? More than we're making off these weapons. More than we'd ever make off the things he was trying to pass us. Not more than our secret, but no one needs to know about that." Lin looked at the readings more closely. "His orbit is making it hard to get a clear reading."

"Anyone in orbit you can prevail upon for a little light weight recon?" Meka asked, raising an eyebrow slightly as she watched Lin working at the console.

Lin shook her head, "Not that I fully trust, besides you. This is something I'd rather do myself but I'm not leaving. But I've got a sensor lock on that ship so as it orbits I'll be able to get the full scans."

"I think I might head into the market around lunch, see what your friend is up to, maybe grab a burger. Until then, how about we go check out the new project, see how it's coming along?" Meka grinned as she stood up. "That, my friend, is what's going to make our mark."

"The one only we know about? Oh yes, I do feel like working on that one. That other guy can deal with me later if he decides to show his face anywhere near here." Linza grinned, "Besides, that burger sounds good too."
