Location: Planet Side - Earth

/// ON ///

Looking over the open water over the ocean, David Hawkins could see the crystal like surface of the ocean. If it wasn't for the sunglasses, he would have had a hard time truly enjoying the view. The crashing waves of the ocean coming up the shore was a smooth and relaxing sound. The salty mist in the air was a natural smell that further relaxed the body and deep down, the soul itself. One could live in this moment forever.

Leaning up against the balcony of the outside seating of the restaurant, David had truly felt that the restaurant had perfected the perfect way of dining in true fashion for a place on the ocean shore. It wasn't a whole in the ground food location, but a truly fancy wine and dine format. So when he chose this place, he knew that this would have to be a nice place to invite her to.

Abigail had been dressed and ready for a while. Her clothing choice was understated, an off the shoulder black dress that fell to mid thigh, black stockings and simple black heels. Even her hair she had opted to leave falling freely past her shoulders. She'd spent the last hour with a drink in hand, watching the waves over the ocean before finally leaving her temporary accommodations to make the short walk to the restaurant he had chosen.

She paused as she reached the top of the steps, catching sight of him leaning against the balcony, a smile playing at the corners of her mouth as she watched him for a moment before approaching, resting a hand lightly on the back of his shoulder. "Penny for your thoughts?"

David turned and saw the new view before him. He looked her over and felt that his buttoned up shirt and dress pants weren't even close to her level at all. He was almost taken back before collecting his thoughts once again.

"Every time I see you, you seem to become more gorgeous. You sure know how to clean up," he said before taking her in his arms and hugging her tightly. He released her and offered her at the chair of the table that he had saved. "And you smell amazing. You know how to turn heads, don't you?"

"Still the charmer I see," she said with a smile as she sank down into the chair. "I've heard amazing things about this place, apparently the food is incredible." Abigail watched as he moved to his own seat before she reached across the table, tucking her hand in his and squeezing gently. "It really is good to see you again in the flesh," she said softly. "It's been far too long."

"Yes it has been," He squeezed back before a waitress walked up to the table with rolls and a bottle of wine. The waitress filled their glasses and offered some time to look at the menus before she would be back for their orders. "You know, your brother would have kicked my ass for even saying anything flattering about you," he smirked as he looked over the menu for a moment.

"Declan was always protective," Abigail replied quietly, pulling her hand away and picking up the glass of wine. "That, and, well, he always thought you were a bit of a womanizer." She smiled faintly at the memories of the conversations. "Still the 'love 'em and leave 'em' type or has someone actually convinced you to settle down now?" She asked with a teasing grin.

"I have tried a couple times since Liz's death, but in the end, I have just put all my time and energy into getting my command and taking care of my people. Everything else, I just haven't tried giving it time," Hawkins admitted as he found what he wanted and closed the menu memorizing his order by heart. "What about you, have you fallen head over heals with your new marine or is there a special someone else off world?"

"Colonel Hayter? I've not seen him since he showed up at Command." choosing her own meal, she closed the menu and set it aside. "He seemed nice enough, you certainly set him up to make a good impression. Well, all except for that remark about the cartwheels. THAT you need to be smacked for!" Abigail replied, picking up her drink and taking a sip.

David chuckled slightly as he shrugged before taking a drink. "Well what can I say, it was left open for messing with you. What can I say?"

"I'm sorry for being an ass Abigail would be a nice start," she replied with a shake of her head. "So embarrassing!"

"Oh I have done worse, trust me. But fine, I'm sorry for being an ass Abigail," David offered as the waitress came by, refilling their drinks and making sure to have their orders in. Once she left, Hawkins looked back at the female captain. "So what happened with your meeting and aftermath of the whole thing you were worried about with the Admirals?"

Abigail took a sip of her drink before she set her glass back down on the table and turned it in her hands. "He turned the whole thing around," she finally said softly. "David, he was there before me. He went in and sang my praises about averting crisis and saving an alliance, he made it sound like I had single handedly saved the universe."

She picked up her glass and took another sip. "He turned all the emphasis away from his actions and onto mine, and without any evidence, I can't prove he set the whole thing up."

"Sounds like you need to find that evidence then and nail his ass," he admitted as he looked her over again and shrugged quickly before taking a gulp of his water.

"If I can find the evidence I need, then I plan to," Abigail replied quietly. "Let's not talk about that now. How long are you back on Earth for?"

"My XO and I took the time to briefed command on an actual threat to our possible future allies in the delta quadrant in which could reach into the alpha & beta quadrant if not nipped in the butt sooner rather than later," Hawkins explained as he thought deeply before continued. "I'm waiting on my request to take a task force to investigate the possibility."

"Well, hopefully you'll have your answers sooner rather than later," Abigail said with a smile as she finished her drink. "I'm sure you're positively itching to get underway again already. You never have been an earth body."

"Caught me," David admitted as he leaned back a little. Enjoying the slight breeze of the sea ocean.

In the distance, the sun started to set and caused the water to shimer and shine brighter before the edge of the horizon swallowed the light up. He enjoyed some parts of being on earth but in the end, she was right. He wasn't an Earthy person. He looked back at her and watched as the candle light caused her eyes to shimmer. Sure wasn't a sight to ignore. "What about yourself, any plans for your ship and crew?"

"We'll probably be here for a week, resupply and get some minor repairs done and then head out again. Honestly, I'm looking forward to being back out there. Sitting around here waiting doesn't sit well with me, but my crew need some down time and, well, it's always nice catching up with you." Abigail smiled. "The view is spectacular isn't it?" she asked, turning her attention toward the sunset he had been looking at himself moments earlier.

"In many ways, yes," David nodded before taking a sip of his drink. "And you need time to unwind as well. Have you done anything here except for getting chewed out by an admiral?"

She shook her head. "I had drinks with the crew on the first night. I have accommodations just down the beach, I've mostly been staying there and keeping to myself." She shrugged before flagging down a passing waiter to get both of them new drinks.

He thanked the waiter before looking back at the beauty before him. "So what happened to that one guy you were dating?"

"Who?" There was a momentary look of confusion on her face. "Oh! You mean Luke? Uh, well, we had dinner a few times, and that was what... three years ago?" She shook her head. "You'd know yourself, it's not exactly easy to have a social life when you're the one in Command."

"True. What he was in bio... something?" David smirked as he raised his hands in a way to be like he didn't know what it all was, but they both knew. "... botanist!"
