Preparing to Win the War.

Posted on Wed Apr 8th, 2020 @ 3:43pm by Captain Abigail Laurens & Lieutenant Commander William Rogers

Mission: Dead Moon
Location: Captain's Ready Room

"Lieutenant Rogers, my ready room, now." Abigail walked across the bridge, straight through the doors and moved to the desk, sinking into the seat, exhaling as she did so. Time was running out, she needed to make sure the plans were in place for this to work, and it would only work if everyone knew what was needed.

Rogers rose from his station, catching the eye of the current occupant of Ops as he did so and conveying his surprise at the curt summons with a lift of his eye brows. He crossed the bridge in a few quick strides and through the ready room doors. "Ma'am?" He asked, stood at attention in front of the captain's desk.

There was a momentary sigh as she looked up at him, motioning with one hand for him to take a seat. "I don't know about you, but I need a drink..." she shook her head slightly. "My apologies, I didn't intend to be quite so abrupt." Leaning forward, elbows on the edge of her desk, she pinched the bridge of her nose for a moment. "I just came from Commander Gail. The Ts'usugi representatives will be here within about four hours. Intel will be here in two."

"I probably shouldn't drink and fly." Rogers replied offering a small amount of levity to try and ease the situation. He sat as he'd been instructed to. "So two hours before the party really gets started." He shifted a bit in his seat, lent forward slightly. "What's our play?" It seemed logical to him that the captain had a plan. Why else would she have called him in here?

"I need you on the bridge," Abigail said quietly. "Stay at the helm. I don't expect trouble from either Starfleet or the Ts'usugi, but if tensions are raised, I don't know what will happen." she paused for a moment and watched Rogers carefully. "I spoke with Commander Gail. We need to make sure we greet the Ts'usugi Shipmaster appropriately. I'm going to be relying on you to make sure this happens. We need to monitor the dead ship. As soon as the ship lights come on, we need to lower our shields and open a communication to the ship to greet them. We'll need to make sure we're ready as soon as the other Ts'usugi ship arrives."

"Wait 'till the new ship brings its lights up; lower our shields; then hail them." Rogers repeated the instructions as he understood them. This wasn't a time for crossed wires. He wondered what Abigail would be doing while he was manning the conn, but he'd done enough covert ops during the Eugenics Wars to understand that that information was need to know, and he didn't. "There anything specific you'd like me to tell them?"

"I have no idea," Abigail faltered with that realisation. "Let's hope I'm back on the bridge by then... or that at least they don't take offence if i'm not." She sighed. "Damn i miss shore leave."

"Last time we were on shore leave we picked up hormone vampires." Rogers noted with dry amusement. "I'll do what I can to keep them talking if you're not."

"Thank you Lieutenant, for everything." Abigail drew a quick breath. "I'm sure the Ts'usugi will be appreciative of what you have done as well."

Rogers nodded his gratitude for the thanks. "Just trying to do the right thing, Ma'am."
