The Dreaded Medical

Mission:
If You Like Pina Coladas
Location: Astraea Sickbay
Though there was still plenty of shore leave left, if they wanted to indulge, Shaille had wanted to come back to the ship a little earlier, spend some time getting used to security on the ship, meet a few of the people she was going to be working with, and of course, that dreaded onboarding medical, something she unfortunately couldn't avoid.
Walking into sickbay, she paused momentarily and looked around. It was quiet, a handful of staff pottering around here and there, but there didn't seem to be much in the way of patients. "Hi," she addressed the first staff member who came close enough to be spoken to without raising her voice. "I'm Lieutenant Junior Grade Shaille Levine, here for Lieutenant Morgan?"
The staff member looked at her, a tinge of mercy on his face before nodding and saying he would get him. Some rustling was heard from around the corner of sickbay, and Calvin walked out, dressed in his blue undershirt and uniform pants, which were draped by a white apron that looked like it had fresh blood all over it. In his hand he held a reciprocating bone saw that also was bloodied. His face looked grave and serious. "How can I help you Lieutenant Junior Grade Shaille Levine?" He asked, mimicking her exact introduction back. He brought the bone saw up from one hand and cradled it in both.
Shaille's gaze travelled slowly over the saw, upward over the bloodied apron before resting on his face, tilting her head to one side slightly, eyebrow quirking quizzically. "Doctor Frankenstein I presume?" she asked unperturbed. "I'm with Security, I'm afraid we have some business to attend to. We can do it here if you like, but perhaps somewhere a little more, uh, discreet would be better? Unless you want your staff knowing what you're up to?"
Calvin had a laugh while he put down the saw onto a table and took off the apron. "Oh the staff all but ignores my antics these days. They don't think I'm as funny as I think." He walked over to her to whisper, "But I don't care," he added in a wink. He continued on his path to a bio bed control panel. "Hop on up. I assume you are here for your on boarding physical? Since I don't remember meeting you yet."
Climbing onto the bio bed, Shaille nodded. "Fresh meat, so to speak," she said with a grin and a slight nod toward his saw. "Just transferred back from the Delta Quadrant, I assume that's why they insisted my medical be done with you, wanting to make sure I didn't bring back any weird bugs or anything?"
Calvin shrugged. "Beats the heck out of me. If you've brought something back you've probably already doomed us all to infection. Sharing isn't caring in this regard," He stated bringing the bio bed to life. As he typed in some of her information to begin the process, he glanced up occasionally. "Delta quadrant? Where were you out there?"
"I was assigned to the USS Wellington. We were mostly operating between New Earth and the expanse of Dalacari space. We just got back a few days ago, I've been down on the colony since. I'm assuming that seeing as how I was given a medical and cleared before I left my last ship I am probably not much of a risk to anyone," Shaille said with a shrug. "And if I am, well, you're probably going to have a pandemic on your hands Doc," she grinned.
"At least it would be interesting. Hopefully it's got something good like oozing boils," he replied with a smile. He skimmed through the past history. "Looks like no complaints or issues in your last physical? Still true now?"
"No complaints, no issues, no aches, no pains," Shaille started to recite. "Eating well, sleeping well, no mysterious ailments of any kind. Vaccinations fully up to date and then some. No medications taken that aren't listed in my chart. Am I missing anything?" She asked with a grin.
After setting the bio bed to begin doing the initial vitals and diagnostics, he looked up as he stepped around the bed. "Sounds like you got this pretty well handled," walking over he grabbed the medical tricorder off the table. "If you want a change of the job, I'll hire you in sickbay." He opened the tricorder, tapping in some information before pulling the medical probe out. "Quick scan, physical assessment, and you'll be on your way to enjoying the rest of shore leave," he finished with a smile.
"Thanks, but I'll stick with security. At least I get a phaser and I can shoot the people that get on my nerves," she said with a grin. "Besides, from what I've seen, Chief Medical Officers seem to be somewhat unhinged across the entire galaxy."
"Unhinged? Unhinged?" He emphasized the second one, looking hurt. "That's quite mean to say. Why would you say I'm unhinged?" He started doing his assessment, explaining his movements and scans. "Besides, you might get a phaser, but I've got wicked good drugs that can do some wondrous things. Wanna find out?" He gave a wink.
"You greet me brandishing a bloody saw and now you're offering me drugs? Nooooo... you're not 'unhinged' at all!" Shaille laughed. "Besides, if you'd ever seen the CMO's I've dealt with before you'd know why I think y'all are unhinged! The last ship I was on, we actually went without a CMO for a while after well... lets just say, the one we had, her spring finally sprung and she went a bit gaga."
"That's what I said, I'm not!" Calvin smiled. "Oh we all go through the gaga stage. It's a good time." He continued his assessment, working his way down her thoracic area to the abdomen, and then to the extremities with an absent minded precision.
"Good time? She got completely hammered in the middle of the ships lounge, started sobbing hysterically then passed out cold and ended up face first on the floor." She shook her head. "Though something tells me that you're not one to suffer from your insanities at all," she added.
"Mmm," he hummed almost, stepping back to quickly review the tricorder results. "We all suffer from our insanities sadly, we just find different ways to release the pain," He said, locking eyes with his patient, his face neutral in expression, but his words holding the serious weight. The moment passed quickly, as he smiled at her, "You seem all good. Physical assessment nothing interesting, tricorder shows the same as your previous physical, shocking." He winked. "Any questions for me?"
"I don't recommend Aldebaran Whiskey," Shaille replied. "I mean, as a way to deal with insanities. Some of the side effects can be long lasting, and the hangover is a real bitch." She paused momentarily and shook her head. "I can't think of anything, I had an outgoing medical before I left the Wellington and the Ts'Usugi medical department on the ship that brought us back here was quite thorough in their checkup as well, and, well, here I am, again." She paused again, biting on her bottom lip before shaking her head once more. "No, all in all, I think I'm good. Medical done and dusted, now it's time to start skipping gym sessions and adding extra doughnuts at breakfast time," she said cheekily.
Calvin wagged his finger at her playfully, "Be careful, I can order gym sessions. You start that and you'll be in the gym with me at 0400 every morning," He closed up the tricorder and set it down on the table, and flipped off the bio bed after importing the data to the main database.
Shaille laughed, sliding off the bio bed. "I can assure you, there's only two things I'm likely to be doing at 0400 and neither of them involve the gym," she said with a grin.
"Two eh? I wonder what the second could be," He responded with a sly grin in return.
"Now, that, Dear Doctor," Shaille said with a teasing grin as she started toward the door. "That would be telling."
"Well if you ever feel like indulging me, you'll know where to find me at 0400," He jested back.
