Mission: Getting To Know You
Location: Marine Country

Whistling a merry tune, one Lieutenant Jack Carver made his way down to Marine Country, He'd worked with Marines enough to know that they liked complete pictures as much as he did, and as such he figured he'd meet the MCO. As such the pilot made his way to the MCO's office, there to ring the doorchime. "Chief flyboy here to meet the local king!" he called out.

Amanda looked up at the sound of the chime, and opened the door with a push of a button. "I think you mean local Queen actually." She answered, smiling as the man walked in. "Have a seat Lieutenant." She said gesturing to the more relaxed setting of the two couches set up in the corner of the room. They didn't come as part of the office, but she'd had them put in here for somewhere to sit comfortably.

"Queen works for me." Jack flashed her a grin, offering a hand in greet before sitting down. "Jack Carver, commander air group. Pleased to meet you. Like what you've done with the place, Em-cee-oh offices tend to be more matter-of-fact, less comfort. Nice."

"Well, I like a bit of comfort, especially with all the paperwork i'm having to do. Especially with my new marines. They're mostly very green...and not the best behaved either. But they are all very good shots. I'm thinking of calling them the chosen men...anyway how are your fighters coming along?" She asked. Amanda may not be a flyer now, but she had spent a few years with an aerowing before.

"Quite well, thanks." Jack smiled, sitting back and relaxing, making himself comfortable. "In fact, they're why I'm here. I have a feeling we'll be working together from time to time with me providing air cover over your operations." he offered, getting right to business. "Have you ever worked with a starfighter wing before? And Gryphons specifically?"

Amanda nodded again. "I've worked with air wings before, spent a few years leading a Squadron of birds. I've worked with Gryphons, but not operationally. I flew them when we were at the base, just to keep up my competencies for flying." She said, smiling. "I'm happy to fly one if you were to need me to." She said.

"You've actually flown them?" Jack seemed pleasantly surprised. "Then you're familiar with their atmospheric potential and optional loadout packages. Good. Saves me explaining." He flashed a grin. "Anyways, I have a wing of six Gryphons and six Razors onboard Astraea. Should be enough to provide sufficient air support during most operations you might find yourself on."

Amanda smiled. "Should be plenty for any needs. I assume you have people who can fly our Runabout transports to?" She asked, hoping the answer was yes. At the moment she was having to leave one marine with the transports, which left her a man short.

"They can, yes, but I only have enough pilots to field all my ships. For supplemental pilots you will want to ask Rogers." Jack thumbed in the general direction of the bridge.

Amanda nodded. "That's fine. It's more for if they can't spare and your guys aren't needed on the fighters." She said. "So what's your story then?" She asked.

"Oof. Hitting hard with the personal questions then." Jack chuckled. "Fair enough. Grew up a farm boy on Earth. Found I had an affinity for going fast. Joined Starfleet. Majored in flight control, small craft, with a minor in tactical. Only one place I could go after that." He smiled. "You?"

"Sorry." Amanda said, realizing she was prying to much. "I grew up on a starship, parents were both officers. Transferred to Boot Camp as soon as I hit eighteen. Took classes in Command, Marksmanship and Fighter Piloting. Passed them all and been with the marines ever since." She replied, smiling.

"Huh." he tilted his head a bit, steepling his fingers. "That's an eclectic set of skills. How'd you end up being the Queen Marine instead of a starfighter pilot? That has to be a story."

"Turned out they needed boots on the ground more than they needed pilots back when I passed out of Boot Camp...put me straight through OCS and just kept on climbing the ladder." She said, smiling. "I still like flying the starfighters, just not full time." She answered.

"Always need boots on the ground. Air support is just that, support. The boots is what matters." Jack smiled. "You know, you remind me of an old song from Earth."

"Yeah, which one?" Amanda asked, suddenly intrigued.

"You know the one, like, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Joleeeene, I'm begging of you please don't take my man~" Jack wasn't a bad singer by any means.

Amanda laughed loudly. "Nice singing! Never knew you starfleet types could sing!" She said jokingly, with a wink towards Jack. "Maybe you should think about starting up a band onboard!" She smiled.

Jack laughed as well. "You know, maybe I will. I dabble a bit with the electric bass. Hmmm." he considered. "Anyways, just figured I'd introduce myself and let you know what I can do for you as far as air support goes."

"Well it is appreciated Lieutenant. Thank you for introducing yourself. If you need anything from me then just let me know, my door is always open, and if your short of a pilot, then im your gal." She smiled, standing from the sofa.

"I'll keep it in mind." Jack smiled, heading back out again with a wave.
