Mission: Into The Delta Triangle
Location: Mine, Earth
Timeline: Current & Memory Log

{ON:}

Haru collapsed exhausted against the rock wall. He still hadn't found Walker but he'd helped a lot of people. He was glad to see that his medical skills were not that bad. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the rock wall.

The mind shook again with an aftershock of the seismic jolt that the planet had suffered. He found that without explanation his mind went back to Earth. Back to Maximus Mackenzie. Back to the happenings of the last few months and weeks.

For some reason his mind went back to after his grandmother's funeral. He closed his eyes and allowed himself to relieve it...

=/\=Many days ago, prior to boarding on the Astraea=/\=

For the most part the packing had gone well. Captain Hernandez and Midori had stayed outside and out of the way. Haru and Max had packed up a few things and were just finishing.

They found themselves in the main room. Haru faced the Kamiza (room’s front) and there high on the wall where there should have been a shrine was an empty wall.

Max both saw and heard the lightening that was the pain filled cry torn from his friend’s lips. It was so loud he was sure it would have had a pack of Klingons running for the hills.

The door burst open and Haru’s mother and sister ran inside.

Before Max could react Haru had whirled around. “Where is it?! What have you done with it?! Did you sell that too?”

There was a momentary confusion and Midori then gasped. “The Kamidana!” The family shrine was gone. Before she could say anything Haru began to shout again.

“How could you! You have torn the very heart of this family open! How dare you! That shrine was mine to take!”

Max put both hands on Haru’s shoulders. “Calm…”

Before he could finish that statement Haru seemed to loose all strength and began to fall.

Max held tight. He gently set his friend down in the near by chair and held up a hand to stop the captain and her daughter. “Not now.” He hurriedly said. He knew that that shrine had meant to Haru. If the Captain hadn’t cared then Midori should have. Scooping some cold water in his hands he rubbed it on Haru’s face.

Then he ushered the captain and Midori out of the house with a warning to stay away while he loaded the items Haru had wanted into the hover car. He then went back for Haru himself helping him into the car. He drove off leaving Haru’s family stunned and worried but for him all that mattered was getting his friend away so he could recover. He drove quickly and soon enough they were back at the rented cabin. He’d helped Haru to the sofa supporting him all the way and then he’d pulled the couple of boxes from the car putting them off to the side.

Haru, by this time, was catatonic. Max had been so concerned that he’d called Hades. Somehow they’d managed to get Haru to bed and the doctor gave him a sedative.

Now in the living room area Max and Hades spoke.

“How long will he be like that?”

“I don’t know. Days, hours, he’s gone through a shock. It wasn’t just this it was all that happened on the ship for the last six months he’s been under so much stress…I can’t fathom it.”

“What do I do?” He felt helpless to help his friend.

“Give him time.”

Hades had left transporting back to Australia and Max had sat guard in the living room checking on his friend every half hour.

It was just at the dinner hour that Haru had come out feeling hungry. Max had happily prepared food and carried on a one way conversation telling Haru of his posting, of Soral’s meddling. He told him about the ship he was on and a host of other things.

Haru had listened but not spoken. At least he was eating, at least he was not motionless and Max had hope that things would be well in a few days.

=/\=Present Time=/\=

Haru snapped back to wakefulness. He sighed as he looked around. Back in the mine. He wondered how long it would be until they were found. He also felt bad about getting Lee stuck in all this.

Pushing away from the wall he got his body moving again. He needed to find Walker and make sure Lee was still alright. A small break he'd had now it was time to get back to work. He was a Starfleet officer above all and he had work to do. These people needed help.

Grabbing his medical kit he headed back to work. He knelt by one miner. "It's going to be alright. Let me help you," he said.
