The Nightmare Continues

Posted on Sun Aug 2nd, 2020 @ 2:19pm by Lieutenant JG Shaille Levine & Linza (Lin) Esni & Lieutenant Alexis Aenera

Mission: Into The Delta Triangle
Location: Kessik III

With a little contortionism and a decent degree of discomfort and pain, Shaille had managed to both get her handcuffed hands to the front of her body and to find one of the pins in Lexi's hair, handing it across to the Science officer.

"Hurry up," she hissed, trying to keep her voice quiet. "We don't know how long we've got before they come back."

“Yeah..” Alexis said quietly as she felt the pin and got to the semi-sharp end as she sat with her back to the security officer. Seeing what she was doing would actually distract her from what she was doing and so she also closed her eyes as she found the keyhole by touch and inserted the hairpin. As she very lightly probed with silver ornament, she built a map in her head of how the locking pins inside the cuffs moved, how hard it was to move them, the limits of their movements and after about a minute withdrew the pin. “One moment, I need to adjust this.”

Deep inside her, Lexi mourned the deformation she was going to be doing to the hairpin, but that was quashed with the knowledge that it was required. Using the mental map, she bent the pin in three places, giving the delicate skinny pin three teeth. She then inserted it back into the cuffs and twisted it slightly while keeping the pressure from shoving her makeshift key into the bottom of the keyhole. Finally, she smiled and was relatively satisfied it was close enough, “Now depress the two studs and they should loosen enough for you to remove your hands.”

Linza had been standing just inside the shadows in the doorway, watching and listening. She couldn't help but smirk at their attempts to get away. Remaining where she was, she finally spoke. "I wouldn't if I were you."

Alexis's eyes widened as her eyes opened and she looked straight at Linza, not sensing a thing, but she was the one facing her and she held her 'key' rock steady, "And why not? You want us to sit here just like sheep while you fleece our friends?"

Shaille paused momentarily, her gaze turning toward the direction the voice came from. "Why don't you tell us what you want from us?" she stated firmly, fingers slowly moving to cover the two studs Lexi had indicated. "If you want us to follow your rules, why don't you tell us what you want? Or better still, give us back our commbadges so we can contact our team and get out of here."

Stepping just out of the shadows, Lin smiled. "Now why would I give you the combadges? Come on, what type of person would I be if I did that?" She still leaned against the doorway. "Now, why in the world are you and your team talking to that vile man in the market?"

Lexi smiled sweetly at her, "Now why would we give you the information? Come on, what type of people would we be if we did that?" Hindsight- mocking tone probably was overdoing that, "Our business, not yours."

Shaille cast a glance at Lexi and shook her head. "Ever heard the expression 'don't poke the bear'?" she muttered quietly, as she started depressing down on the studs. "I am Lieutenant Shaille Levine, Security Officer from the USS Astraea. This is Lieutenant Alexis Aenera. We have a shuttle in orbit waiting for us and they WILL know that we're missing. We were sent here looking for information, that's all. I don't know who you are or what your trauma is, but I strongly recommend you give us back our property and let us get back to the rest of our team."

Picking up the combadges from a nearby table, as well as her phaser she'd had earlier, Linza fiddled with them in her hand, finally appearing in the light somewhat. "I don't care about names honestly. What is going on with that damned person your group was talking to? If some damned Starfleet thinks they can come and deal on my turf after all this time..." She aimed the phaser at Alexis and fired a low powered stun at her. "Why is Starfleet out here at all?!"

As Lexi collapsed next to her, Shaille fell silent for a moment before turning back toward Lin. "Look, I don't even know who you are. We're here looking for a Cardassian. His name is Tregar or something like that. The group I was with in the marketplace is the rest of my team and the Bolian is our Chief of Security. So if you just let us go, I'm more than happy to pretend that we never met. I don't know you, I don't care about you, I just want to get back to my team."

There was a moment of silence and then a voice crackled from nowhere. "I have them, initiate the transport."

"Oh lovely. I do love hearing that voice." Lin looked to Shailee. "Your friend will wake up soon, don't worry. That was lowest setting. But, your friends are going to be joining you." She set the combadges back down and walked off to the shadows again to respond to the voice and do exactly what it said.
