Blue Beauty and the Little Beast

Posted on Sat May 30th, 2020 @ 10:44pm by Lieutenant Farizah Alani

Mission: Around The World in 8 Days
Location: Farizah Alani's Quarters

As a Bolian, Farizah was stereotyped as being an ‘open book’ type, someone who kept no secrets and gossiped up a storm. To an extent, that may have been true; however, she did have her own past that she kept locked away and Farizah had some secrets she was keeping from Captain Laurens and the crew. Farizah was comfortably tucked up lounging on the sofa of her quarters, reading when she had the strangest sense she was not alone. Perhaps, it was that instinct of feeling watched or perhaps it was the heavy breathing that was occurring near. Nevertheless, the intruder revealed himself. Though he was less of an intruder and more of a secret.

The big blue-gray face was right there, and those piercing eyes were gently peaking over the thin PaDD that Farizah had been holding near her face, her own eyes catching a glimpse of the small canine sitting on the coffee table in front of her, staring at the Bolian intently. “What is it, you handsome beast?” Farizah asked in a playful melodic tone. “Do not give me that look.

We both know you already had your dinner, spoiled little brat” she added as she put her PaDD down and continued the intense starring match between the Bolian and the canine. “No snacks for you…just go to sleep” she said glaring at the canine who was letting out some grunting noises, a conversationalist he was not, but he was vocal when he wanted someone.

She had a much better relationship with this dog than she had with any other Bolian, Humanin, or person in general, species and sex regardless with one exception: Captain Laurens. Farizah knew what the dog really wanted. It was not so much food as it was to distract Farizah from the PaDD and get the Bolian to play with him. “Spoiled little ass, you'll be the death of me” said the Bolian Security Chief shaking her head as she got up from her sofa and headed towards the food replicator.

“One tennis ball” ordered Rykov, soon picking up a small vibrant neon yellow ball, and rolling it on the floor. The dog was tiny yet mighty, and had the hunting instinct of a small Klingon, sneaking up behind it and pouncing on top of it, playing with it and slobbering over the tennis ball as he tried to keep it in his mouth.

“One vanilla chai tea, hot” she added, ordering herself a nice mug of hot tea. The warm and alluring aroma of cardamom and sweet vanilla quickly filled the room. Farizah took the mug with her over to the sofa, sat down and took a few sips before returning to her PaDD. The Security Chief was usually one to work well into the early hours of the morning, long after her last shift to get a jump start on her next shift's work or catch up on reports. This evening, however, she was taking things light and reading for pleasure rather than for profession. It was a much-needed change of pace and an escape from the work that had been haunting her every day now.

“You’re just lucky I am the Chief of Security and could sneak you aboard relatively easily. I just need to figure out how to inform Abigail that I have you before your presence is discovered. I could have put in the formal paperwork, but I did not know I wanted a pet until I saw you when I was on shore leave” Farizah said to the puppy who dropped the ball near the sofa.

A few pleasant moans from the canine, and Farizah felt the light pressure of her new companion launching himself up onto the sofa and stretching out across her lap. The dog began to ram his head underneath her arm and Farizah gently ran her hand down the dog’s back. “Damn. You are truly a spoiled and needy thing, aren’t you? I still need a name for you” she said to the dog as it let out several comforting noises, closing its eyes partially to show that it was comfortable and happy.

Lieutenant Farizah Alani spent another hour reading her novel, the tale of a strong warrior princess who fell for a confident starship Captain, a complete work of fiction, but an enchanting romantic tale, nonetheless. Soon, the Bolian and her puppy were both sound asleep, both drooling and dreaming of something they were chasing after.
