| Personal History | Ben grew up on a small Agricultural Colony, Vess IV, with gravity a hair above Earths. During his childhood along with schooling he would help out on the farms with his parents and older sister, Freya, helping with planting, harvesting and maintaining the rather old machinery that was used on the farms. He would often spend the evenings lying on one of the hills not far from his house looking up at the stars in the sky wondering what was out there and wondering about all the different planets and species out there. his interest mostly seemingly sparking from conversations with a Andorian Freighter captain, Opyliah, who would often visit the area to trade. She would spin grand tales different worlds and strange species, well stranger species as she was quite strange to the children of Vess as they didn't get too many non-human visitors, which would fill the children's minds with awe. At the age of 16 he pursued his parents to allow him to take the Starfleet Academy Entrance exam. His parents, although not expecting him to pass, reluctantly accepted his request and had Opyliah take him. As expected for someone who hadn't spent their education focusing on getting into the academy, he failed. However one of the examiners did like the way he approached these problems and how despite how out of his depth he was, he at least tried to assist his fellow test attendees and as such offered Ben a place in the Enlisted Officers training course |
